ETERNAL RECURRENCE SELECTED FOR THE FiLM INDEPENDENT PRODUCING LAB

As a screenwriter myself, I'm proud to announce that my most recent script, a Sci-Fi romance titled ETERNAL RECURRENCE, and the project's producer, Nancy Degnan, were selected and took part in the prestigious 2024 Film Independent Producing Lab! It was an honor many years in the making. As an Intuitive Writer, cultivating a skill for writing something more narrative when I had been otherwise quite poetic was a feat only provided to me by my Story as Language process.

For many years, despite the books and classes, I couldn't understand why the plot points I wrote on the supposed pages I should be writing them on were not landing with readers, producers, financiers, and execs. In this way, getting into a competitive lab such as Film Independent Producing was just simply out of reach for me. It's not that labs like this are unsupportive of poetry -- quite the contrary. There's just a big difference between poetic screenwriting that lacks narrative thrust or reads experimental and that which can be financed and serve a purpose in the market.

I share this with all of you to say that my journey with Story as Language goes from an expression I couldn't quite articulate in screenwriting language to one that's landed in a way I've longed for. I spent a decade trying to accomplish this, to no avail. But in thinking and learning screenwriting like a language, I've taken on and gained screenwriting dreams of mine in a matter of just a few years—a few years versus a decade.

The work is far from over. The lab exposed a new level of film studio notes that will expand my script and Story as Language process. Join me on that journey of expansion. Think about your goals in screenwriting.

  • What's next for you?
  • What have you longed for?
  • Let's create it together.
